The Finance Advisor will work collaboratively with the Cargo Branch of Air Canada, in support of the airlines business objectives and continued drive towards sustained profitability. This position reports to the Director, Finance – Cargo & Commercial.
Key Responsibilities:Support the Director with the monthly financial close process and reporting deliverables. Support other team members as required through periods of increased workload.Assist clients in all financial aspects of the management control process (i.e. Month-end accruals and adjustments, SAP journal entries, budget and forecast process)Establish a positive relationship with the Air Canada Cargo branch to become part of the team, effectively balancing financial control, advisory and support roles Have an advisory role to business unit managers in the development of strategies and initiatives to meet or exceed the units financial goals, including revenue enhancement and cost reduction initiativesKeep track of monthly operating expenses, producing monthly and ad hoc reports to improve expense and budget managementParticipate and provide support to the analysis of the financial performance of the business unitPerform cost and value comparisons for new projects, contracts and business cases, using internal and external data to continuously improve the financial performance of the business unitAssist with additional SAP functions on an ad-hoc basisParticipate in Capex project tracking and reporting, as requiredEnsure a consistently high level of quality in service provided relative to timeliness, accuracy, and user-friendly output
QualificationsUndergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field3-5 years of experienceCPA designation is an assetSelf-starter, energetic with strong sense of initiative and creativityBe adaptable and ready to learn a new Finance ERP systemSolid analytical skillsKnowledge of financial analysis techniques and accounting cycleExperience/knowledge of company/airline operations is an assetWell-developed Microsoft Excel skills and ability to learn financial software/applicationsResults driven with good organization skills and ability to work under pressureExcellent communication skills, oral and writtenExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environmentDemonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
