A&P Technician Trainee Program (Military Aviation Maintenance / Earn While You Learn)
We are seeking honorably discharged military veterans with aviation maintenance experience for a long-term career opportunity in the Southwest Ohio region. This program is designed for veterans who want to transition their military aviation experience into a civilian aviation maintenance career while working full-time and earning their FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License. This is an “earn while you learn” opportunity offering stability, hands-on commercial aircraft experience, and a pathway to direct employment upon program completion.
Compensation & Benefits
• Hourly Rate: $26.00/hour
• Tax-free split per diem available
• Long-term contract opportunity with pathway to direct hire
• Direct hire offer may be extended after program completion based on experience and performance
• Overtime may be available
• VA Educational Benefits may be available for eligible veterans
• Candidates may qualify for VA Housing Allowance/BAH while attending school
• Tools are not required to start
• Snap-on toolbox provided on Day 1
• Tools are kept by the candidate upon direct hire conversion
Work Schedule
• Full-time work schedule while attending A&P school
• Primary Work Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM
• Weekend Shift may be available based on program needs
• A&P School Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
• Candidates must be able to balance full-time work and school requirements
Key Responsibilities
• Perform aviation maintenance tasks in a commercial MRO environment while working toward A&P certification
• Support maintenance, inspections, repairs, and servicing on commercial aircraft platforms
• Apply prior military aviation maintenance experience to civilian aircraft maintenance operations
• Work under approved maintenance procedures, technical data, and quality standards
• Accurately document completed maintenance actions and assigned work
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, accountability, and professional conduct
• Work collaboratively with maintenance teams, leads, and veteran mentors
• Build long-term technical skills while completing required A&P training
Qualifications
• Honorably discharged military veteran required
• Minimum 4+ years of military aviation maintenance experience required
• Fixed wing, rotary wing, aircraft mechanic, or structures/sheet metal backgrounds preferred
• Strong desire to earn FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License required
• Must be able to work full-time while attending A&P school
• Must be able to pass required ACT WorkKeys testing
• Must be willing to sign required program and retention agreements
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
• Ability to work independently and within a team-focused maintenance environment
