The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the hardware design, development and production support of a wide breadth of air, land, sea, and space systems.  The Hardware Engineering team strives to be the premier organization for mechanical design and development through our world class people and technology - creating trusted, innovative solutions to make the world a safer place.  Hardware Engineering’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.

Within the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea, Sensors & Structures (USS) Department leads the mechanical design, development, and integration of a large set of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers. 

The USS department is looking for a full-time Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the Mechanical Engineering team efforts, CONUS and OCONUS, supporting the Launching Station Sub-IPT for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) program.

What You Will Do:

In this Principal Mechanical Engineer role you will be responsible for supporting and applying the following:

  • Lead Patriot Launcher Subject Matter Experts in supporting start-up efforts related to the KSA program

  • Technical Subject Matter Expert for Launchers, leading the execution of the Mechanical Engineering work scope as part of a multi-disciplined team and tracking metric-based progress throughout the Period of Performance

  • Participating in the execution of Patriot Launcher product proposals

  • Member of Patriot Launching Station Sub-IPT leading CONUS and OCONUS team members in manufacturing development

  • Engineering lead for partner development and execution of Launcher production including Manufacturing Data Package (MDP), tools and test fixture development, special process audit support, First Article Inspection (FAI) support, and transition to production

  • Periodic travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support program needs and milestone events

  • This position is considered on-site, with travel responsibilities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.

  • 10 years or more of experience in production and engineering support environment and/or progressive leadership experience and/or at least 4 years of working knowledge or experience with Patriot Systems

  • Experience with program start-up and Earned Value Management

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Demonstrated team player, with excellent collaboration and mentoring skills

  • Experience with detailed program and production planning

  • Advocate for process improvement, team builder and able to build strong relationships and effectively partner with internal resources

  • Experience with product (road) testing, plan and procedure development, and execution

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements

  • Experience with large, welded assemblies

  • Working knowledge of PTC CREO CAD system or equivalent and PTC PDM or equivalent Product Data Management system

  • Experience with current manufacturing systems and processes

  • Ability to collaborate with international subcontractors in a production environment

  • Experience in production of complex systems

  • Ability to work closely with a cross functional team, with representatives from Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Mission Assurance, IPT Leadership, Program Management teams

  • Strong communication skillset with ability to articulate, in both oral and written form, to technical, non-technical and management audiences

  • Demonstrated technical, communication, and leadership skills

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Experience with EXIM compliance including Jurisdiction and Classification Assessment (JCA) training

  • Demonstrated excellence in past work performance

  • Experience managing through organizational change and rapid growth

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
