Typically, this role would support a Project Manager and their team in key financial decisions providing key data to support recommendations. I want this role to evolve further than that. This person will hold the team accountable to reaching the targets set in business cases. This involves conversation with not only the Project Manager, but also the Account Manager to ensure that both aspects of the client relationship are being engaged on a regular basis to ensure that what was presented as a business case is being delivered upon.
This is not a reporting role. This person will be held responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on budget with the margins that were approved on signature. Any deviations must be discussed and solutions presented to get the project back on track where possible. Documentation must be detailed in reviews, and proactive steps taken to correct issues.
In the simplest way possible, the successful candidate will be the CFO of projects within the AME region responsible and responsible for ensuring that each project is delivered to the metrics that were approved. If trends start to appear, I expect this person to identify the source of the issue and bring this to the attention of the Regional CFO to ensure that this pattern ceases to cause future problems.
You will have a team of two based in Brasil and further investment may be required as we scale this team in the future. You will need to train them how you see fit to bring them in line with your vision of how this team will operate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
I have ambitious goals that every project above $250k in TCV should be managed and reviewed by a PFC by the end of 2026. This will mean the following:
- A new way of automating reports, so time is not wasted compiling information,
- Quick reviews, which means these PFC reports will have to be standardized and detailed variances documented on PFC reports for easy reference,
- Deep understanding, which means collaborating directly with not only the project managers but also the account managers to find out why things are not going according to plan and what they are both going to do to get it back on track (this is not a “project” problem, but a SITA one, so everyone should be included in the discussions),
- Innovation is key, and change is continuous. Finding ways to constantly improve efficiency so that the main focus is on the analysis and not the time consuming manual tasks.
- Finding other ways to be more efficient in this process so that as few people as possible can review all our projects one day no matter how large we scale our business.
Qualifications
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- As the “CFO of projects” this is not just about reporting the numbers but helping to resolve the issues. You will not simply be holding the teams to account for their delivery, their results, but you should be collaborating with them, you are responsible for this too, it is not just for them to develop solutions. You should therefore have a deep understanding of how projects work in the US, including construction deals, and work alongside the teams to drive results and maintain or improve our profitability.
- I expect accurate forecasting of the estimate to complete costs and not just the difference between actuals and the budget case. You must have the ability to really scrutinize the project and challenge if this going to finish on budget or not and report the accurate forecast not the “nice to have” situation.
- This can also mean pre-empting potential risks and assessing fiscal impact and being able to develop real-time views b keeping close contact and building relationships with the delivery teams and not just waiting on month-end close to find out about overruns or delays. It also means ensuring that revenue recognition under IFRS is accurate, and billing including FCM are completed correctly and most importantly, timely. We are far too late with our cutover messages and more should processed ahead of time.
- As you grow in this role, I will be looking for more commercial finance acumen and suggestions on how to improve SITA processes, e.g. contract terms and conditions, or procurement practices, or bid management solutions, to further improve the delivery of our teams and reduce the restrictions that they face in the execution.
- In short, this person is going to lead a team in Brasil and India, reporting directly to the Commercial Senior Manager, and help to create the most innovative PFC team of any region, heavily utilizing AI, automation, and providing value in real time and setting the benchspan of where the rest of SITA should follow.

- This role will follow a standard working schedule of 3:00 PM IST to 12:00 PM IST, aligned with global and US time zones to support effective stakeholder engagement.
